In its early days, MakeSpace built out its own Billing system which was able to handle the majority of requests for a growing startup. As we reached a certain scale, we needed to assess whether this homegrown system would work for the long haul.
Evaluating each of our products through the lens of CORE vs. Non-CORE (i.e. is this product core to MakeSpace) we decided to evolve our billing system leveraging 3rd-party tools where possible.
The BizOps team led this rebuild layering proprietary features unique to MakeSpace on top of steady 3rd-party infrastructure.
